To satisfy the food demands of the global population, advanced technology based research is needed, that can extract the information from the plant metabolism and microbial gene pool and use it for improving plant health and productivity. Modern biotechnological tools have the ability to unlock the limitations of agricultural practices. However, the application of these tools is not well equipped. Moreover, eco-friendly agriculture by microbial inoculants is known to have positive influences on soil/plant health.

This is the first book to systemize all levels of communicative behavior of phages. Phages represent the most diverse inhabitants on this planet. Until today they are completely underestimated in their number, skills and competences and still remain the dark matter of biology. Phages have serious effects on global energy and nutrient cycles. Phages actively compete for host. They can distinguish between 'self' and 'non-self' (complement same, preclude others). They process and evaluate available information and then modify their behaviour accordingly.

El presente texto permitirá a los estudiantes afianzar los conceptos básicos sobre la vida y funcionalidad de los microorganismos. En él encontrarán la caracterización morfo-fisiológica de las bacterias, la morfología de los hongos y algunas técnicas de control microbiológico ambiental y control microbiológico de alimentos.

Este manual de prácticas de laboratorio en microbiología veterinaria exhibe algunos temas de alta relevancia para la clínica veterinaria. Aborda asuntos recurrentes en el área, como la toma y envío de  muestras al laboratorio, su procesamiento y la interpretación de los resultados, para dar un tratamiento oportuno y acertado a los pacientes. Se escogieron dieciséis temas comunes y significativos para nuestra casuística diaria, que son del interés de los profesionales y estudiantes de la medicina veterinaria en Colombia.
