La idea original de esta obra surgió en la Asamblea de la Asociación Colombiana de Neumología Pediátrica (ACNP), Realizada durante el último Congreso Colombiano de Neumología Pediátrica. Quisimos seguir los pasos del maestro Gustavo Aristizábal Duque, quién con su libro de neumología Pediátrica nos enseñó que todo se puede con disciplina y constancia. Fue este un reto muy difícil, pues tratar de alcanzar la calidad de dicha obra significaba una tarea ardua.
